I really enjoyed this story, mainly for its concept but I also liked that it's a book about relationships as much as it.


Now Lord returns with a second novel that exceeds the promise of her first. "The Best of All Possible Worlds "is a stunning science fiction epic that is also a beautifully wrought, deeply moving love story. The Best of all Possible Worlds is a slightly strange novel. I suspect that I did not quite comprehend everything that's in it. The back story is treated as so incidental that I occasionally felt a little lost. The novel begins with a bit of a shock: a disaster / genocide has befallen a race of humanoid aliens. The Best of All Possible Worlds is Karen Lord’s second published novel, after her award-winning debut Redemption in Indigo. I haven’t had the chance to read that first novel yet, but it’s definitely on my list after reading her second effort.
